Holiday in Murree & Kashmir

John really enjoyed his holiday trip to Murree and Kashmir in October 1927.

There is a joyous feeling about the wonder of all the sights that he saw. The coolness of the mountain air (so needing woolen plus-fours) and relief from the pressures of working in a stifling office in Calcutta.

The photos suggest that he took a train across India to Lahore perhaps, and then went by hired Dodge car for the rest of the journey together with a friend, Felix Ash. John talks about ‘our runaround’. He says that the journey from Murree to Kashmir was 186 miles, so he must have visited Murree first.
